T & C's

The following Terms and Conditions (T&C’s) are for GIANT Tennis Pty Ltd, and are dated 29/11/19. Updated T&C’s will be posted on this page, with the date advised within this paragraph.

Wet Weather Policy

If we have to cancel a lesson due to wet weather, we will send out either a text message or email informing you of this. If you do not get a call, text or email from your coach, please assume the lesson is continuing as scheduled.

Heat Policy

If the temperature reaches 38 degrees or more, no lessons will be undertaken until temperature drops below 38 degrees. We will send out either a text message or email informing you of the cancellation. If you do not get a call, text or email from your coach, please assume the lesson is continuing as scheduled.

Make-Up & Cancellation Policy

GIANT Tennis will work to ensure that all lessons cancelled (due to heat, wet weather or other) will be made up during the same term or in the school holiday period. If we are not able to have this completed, a credit can be discussed with either Aidan or Brandt.

If you are unable to make a lesson, we ask you to please advise your coach at least 24 hours prior to the lesson commencing.

Make-up lessons may be arranged for missed lessons, within the current term. These are however subject to availability of an appropriated day and equivalent class, so please be flexible with days, times, venues and coaches when looking to book a make-up class.

Registration & Fees

In order to register for a GIANT Tennis program (either Term Coaching, Competitions, Holiday Program, Squad trip etc), students are required to complete an online form via the GIANT Tennis website.

For students in GIANT Tennis term coaching program, enrollments will roll over from term to term. This will ensure that all our current students get first right for the following term.

However, if you wish to cancel your enrollment, we ask if you could please notify brandt@gianttennis.com.au prior to the start of the following term, so our schedules can be updated for any prospective new students, and to ensure we do not send you an invoice.

All term fees are payable within the first 2 weeks of the term. Places will not be guaranteed if registration forms and payments are not completed prior to the commencement of the term.

With all GIANT Tennis Competitions/Holiday Programs/Squad Trips etc, invoices will be provided prior to the event, and are to be paid before the event begins.

Photography & Video Images

GIANT Tennis will at times take photographs of students participating in our program, such images may be used in printed material (e.g. brochures, flyers, newsletters) or in digital form on our website or our social media platforms. Please advise brandt@gianttennis.com.au if you do not wish to have your child/ren photograph or Video.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. With exception of the point below *, the data we collected from you will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent. The email address you provide may be used to send you information and respond to enquiries.

* Maiden Gully Tennis Club

All GIANT Tennis coaching students who take part in coaching at Maiden Gully Tennis Club will be registered with the club and will receive a student membership. This will also entitle you to use the courts at the club.

Parental Involvement

GIANT Tennis supports Tennis Australia’s stance and efforts in helping educate parents on their important role within the child’s sporting journey. The following are some ideas and education that we would like you, the parent, to be aware of.

GIANT Tennis encourages all parents to remain off the court during their child’s lesson. This enables both the coach and student/s to concentrate entirely on the lesson, create independence for the child, promote a child’s decision making skills and build the coach – student relationship.

As a parent / guardian of a participant in any activity held / run by GIANT Tennis you agree to try and meet the following requirements in regard to your conduct during any such activity, program or event to the best of your abilities:

  • Treat your child the same irrespective of them winning or losing
  • Remember that your child plays for their enjoyment not yours
  • Try to have fun when you are around your children at competitions      and training. Well-directed humour can be a great de-stressor
  • Look relaxed, calm and positive on the sidelines
  • Make friends with other parents at competitions
  • Get involved in appropriate ways if your child or the coach behaves      in unacceptable ways during competitions
  • Let the coach do the coaching
  • Understand that children will benefit from a break sometimes and      that involvement in other sports is okay
  • Be there when the child performs poorly. Be an understanding listener      rather than a critic, judge and/or fixer
  • Be prepared to give your child some space so that he/she can grow      and develop as an independent person
  • Let your child know that your love for them is not associated with      their sporting performances
  • Communicate with your child and ask them how they are really      feeling about their sport and about competing in particular
  • Occasionally let your child compete without you being there and      hovering over them
  • Emphasise the good things your child did in preparing for and during      the match/tournament
  • Try to avoid:
  • Saying “we’re playing today”. Instead say “you’re playing today”
  • Giving your child credit for accepting the responsibility of      performing
  • Getting too pushy or believe that you are indispensable. Let the      coach do the coaching
  • Living through your child’s performances
  • Turning away when your child’s behaviour is unsportsmanlike.
  • Telling your child what he/she did wrong after a tough match
  • Making enemies with your child’s opponents or family during a      match/tournament
  • Making your child feel guilty by reminding them about all the time,      money and sacrifices you are making for his or her sport
  • Thinking of your child’s sporting performances as an investment for  which you expect a return
  • Badgering, harassing or using sarcasm to motivate your child
  • Comparing your child’s performances with those of other children
  • Forcing your child to go to training. If they are sick of training      find out why and discuss it with them
